M.O.T.Y.

Today I raked up some massive MOTY points. Mother Of The Year that is!!! Cleo has gone camping down at Lorne, with Jamie, Johnny and Katelyn. They took two tents. They left yesterday afternoon. About oneish today I get the phone call. Muuuuuuuuum the tent broke in the wind! We went out and when we came back it was ripped and fallen down... Can you go buy us a new tent and bring it down??? Gawd talk about frantic voiced LOL I said calm down, I will see what I can do. So I went out to Rays Outdoors. And picked up a bargain! Three man tent for $38 !!! I should ad, the tent that broke belonged to Johnnys dad. So why didn't they ring his family LOL cos they know, Nasi the sucker will come to the party.

I had a quick discussion with Paul about it, and we figured, we don't own a tent at all, and since she is going to the Lorne festival thingy for new years eve, it didn't hurt to buy one.

So yeah, Nasi goes and drives down the coast to deliver the tent. I must say, the kids were extremelly grateful, and Johnny offered to buy me lunch for my trouble. He's a sweetie!!!

But I didn't really mind, cos Lorne is down the Great Ocean Road, and it is the best place to be on a nice sunny day! There was a lovely cool sea breeze, and the sun was shining! So I delivered the tent, and then the girls asked me to stay and go shopping with them. It was really nice actually. They did seem to genuinely appreciate my effort, so that was really pleasing.

I did them a favour LOL I told the boys if they wanted to go back to the camp I would drop the girls back later LOL so by the time I delivered them, the boys had set up the tent. HAHAHA I am teaching them well.

So I figure I earned lots of MOTY points today, I reckon it will almost put me in the lead HAHAHA !!!!!

Special Olympics Basketball

We have been in Dandenong this weekend. Andy played in the 2008 Special Olympics winter games. It was so much fun! They had athletes playing basketball, ten pin bowling and gymnastics. Of course Andy was in the basketball.

There were teams from 10 regions across Victoria. This was the first time that we have been involved. What an amazing event it was. They started of with an opening ceremony, where each region marched to some bagpipers, with a team representative carrying a sign saying where they were from. As you can imagine, there were many waves to the crowd and loads of smiles.

All the athletes were decked out in official Special Olympics outfits, they looked so cool!!!

We played two games on Saturday, and then one more today. Then this afternoon was the playoffs. We played off for 7th and 8 position. and we won LOL The team were ecstatic! They were so graceful in defeat, I really underestimated how they would react to a win. It was a tear gerker LOL The game was fantastic, I felt a little sad for our oposition, as they really didn't stand a chance, they were defeated badly in every game they played. But boy was it exciting for our kids! Paul used the timeouts to chat to the team and make sure they shared the ball around so that everyone on the team got a goal. With about 2 minutes to go, Andy was the only one who hadn't scored, so they set out to make sure he did. He ended up with about 5 shots at goal, and he finally got one in with about 30 seconds to go in the game. As you can imagine he went off LOL clapping and cheering himself hehehe.
At the end of the day, they had a closing ceremony where they all received ribbons and medals. The medal presenter was Lindsay Gaze! Yes Lindsay Gaze LOL father of Andrew Gaze. He said some amazing encouraging words to the athletes, and you could feel how genuine he was when he spoke and the enjoyment he got out of presenting the medals.

Oh should mention, Paul was the coach of Andys team. They needed an extra so since he has a few years coaching experience he was recruited. Turns out they liked his style, and have asked him to nominate himself for a coaches position at the 2009 National games in Adelaide. Apparently nominations have closed, but they were so impressed, they have made an exception for him.

Nooooo Not the Prado

Well well well, it didn't take long to get some dirt for installment number two! We went on another driving adventure this afternoon. Cleo was driving sensationally! We went out to Deakin Uni again, and she was gunning it. Encountered and accomplished about 4 roundabouts, went up hill, down hill, did a few turns in the carpark, and then like yesterday, Cleo wanted to drive home. So onto the real roads we go.

We see this construction worker in a ute, he loses control on the dirt construction road, and Cleo says BAD EXAMPLE!!! DRIVE CAREFULLY and we continue... about 30 seconds down the road, round one corner, and then into the next. Move right MOVE RIGHT MOOOOOOOVE RIIIIIIIIIIGHT I say, but it was too late, we were ploughing through the road work star pickets. Collected four in all! As usual, bad mother, starts laughing, Cleo, starts laughing, Andy is shouting OH MY GOD, SHE CRASH THE CAR hehehehehe.

So I hop out, hopeing that there is no damage, alas I am wrong LOL not bad damage, but costly damage for sure! A couple of huge gouges in the front bumper bar.

Gotta say though, I am proud of miss Bugg, she laughed it off, stayed in the driver seat and drove home. Today, we didn't hit the roundabout, and parked out the front successfully.
And to think only on Monday, I was bragging to a girlfriend that this is the only car we have had that I haven't damaged LOL It doesn't look that bad, but it is a chunk out of the bumper, and as Pauly said, they will just replace the whole thing.

You can just see them, one at the back and

then three more in a pile at the front

And the car, the Prado, the only car we've bought that I haven't crashed yet!!!

She's on the road

Yikes! Cleo got her learners permit on Wednesday. She did really well, and passed with 91%. I was impressed! So yesterday, we hit the road, and the kerb, and a roundabout HAHAHA I will elaborate

We live very close to Deakin University, and this is where most of the learners in our area go to get a feel of driving. So we went there. I let her get behind the wheel. First we made sure that she knew which was the brake and which was the eccellerator LOL. So off we go! I realised very quickly that we should of had some instructions about how to turn the wheel too! As in you don't spin it at a million miles an hour like you do in a dodgem car, or you will end up all over the road!!!

Mind you she is driving my Prado, it is a auto, and had very touchy brakes, and loads of power LOL We're not allowed to use Pauls car, which is a lot smaller, because it's a company car.

So we head up hill, probably a good choice, cos she can use the eccellerator a little, not going to badly. Then we all shout TURN TURN as she almost mounts the kerb!!! She says, but don't I have to keep left LOL Yes, love, but not THAT far left, we do not want to hit parked cars or mount the kerb to often!!! It's going well, we do the big lap of the Uni car park, and Cleo decides she would like to drive home. Sure, I thought, get her into it. So we head out of the Uni, and straight to a road work zone, where the man is standing with his stop sign. Cleo starts to panic. WHEN DO I STOP????? When you get closer to him love. So we get closer and BANG on goes the brake! Whiplash and kindey damage all round. The bloke holding the sign is pissing himself laughing, as are we! I am so not good at being serious about these things! So we proceed and then we have another bloke with the stop sign and we do it all again. Yes, more whiplash and more kidney damage.

We got through the road work zone and then she could sit on 60! She was very determined to get up to the speed limit. Myself and the back seat passengers, Andy, Lachie and Jamie, were not so keen. But she did it anyway. She did really well actually. We then came up to the main highway near our home, and had to do the traffic light thing. This was a little scarey LOL since it is a very main road, and lots of trucks don't stop at the lights! So we sit a the red light, me with my hand firmly holding the handbrake, just in case... She did fantastically! Takes off beautifully, manouvers through the next two sets of lights, drives over the bridge near home (with me saying MOVE RIGHT, MOVE RIGHT) and then we come to the roundabout on our street.

What does she do? Hits the eccellerator instead of the brake!!! Fortunately her reflexes are young and quick and she quickly moved to the brake. Once again, bad mother is pissing herself laughing!!! We then manouvered around the roundabout and into our street. She cruises down the road, almost straight past our house, we shout STOP, pull into the kerb! What??? she says, and quickly turns, mounts the kerb and stops parked halfway onto next doors driveway.

That will do love, I say! Hop out and I shall park it LOL

So all in all she actually did a really good job. Considering she was so scared of even getting her permit, she is now keen to get on the road. I think there are going to be many grey hairs coming my way in the next few months, and many tales to tell!!!

Yeah, so that is installment one.
